In vitro fertilization has been successful for many years for couples who could not have children in natural homes. IVF treatment, which is an assisted reproduction technique, offers the opportunity to have children to couples who cannot have children due to infertility, advanced age, specific and tube blockages, low sperm count and quality in men, and metabolic conditions such as obesity. In vitro fertilization, which is the most preferred infertility treatment, is an artificial insemination technique applied by bringing together female and male reproduction in a reproductive laboratory and placing the fertilized egg in the mother’s uterus.
In vitro fertilization is a method preferred when pregnancy does not occur despite unprotected intercourse for more than 1 year. In vitro fertilization treatment is performed with classical in vitro fertilization (IVF) or microinjection (ICSI) depending on the fertilization of the ovaries.
In IVF treatment, patients are often called for follow-up visits. After the eggs have reached a certain size, it takes between 10 and 12 days until the snap injection, while after the snap injection the eggs are collected under anesthesia for 34 to 36 hours. After harvesting, fertilization takes place and high-quality embryos are transferred to the mother’s uterus. Thus, the IVF treatment process represents a period of approximately 15 to 18 days.
