Penile fracture (penile fracture) is one of the rare urological emergencies. Penile fracture occurs when the tunica albuginea (the sheath surrounding the penis) ruptures as a result of sudden trauma to the penis or rapid sideways bending of the erect (hardened) penis.
Tunica albuginea; It is a structure that surrounds the corpus cavernosum (the two cylinders that make up the penis) in the form of a sheath located under the skin, allowing the penis to lengthen and expand during erection.
Sometimes, in addition to the tunica albuginea, there may also be a tear in the corpos cavernosum, which is responsible for erection. In approximately 20% of cases, injury to the urinary tract is also observed.
